Foster FAQ

WHO PAYS?

Greyhound Rescue pays the full cost of necessary vet bills incurred while your dog is in foster. Greyhound Rescue will also supply muzzle, coat, collar and lead. The only thing you’ll need to pay for is food and flea/ worm treatment for your furry friend!

HOW LONG WILL I HAVE THE DOG?

This depends on how many adoption applications are received by Greyhound Rescue. Foster carers should be prepared to accommodate a dog for at least 6 months.

WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM ME?

Food, shelter, love and basic training. For many of our dogs, this is the first time they will live as a pet and it can be overwhelming. You will also be required to meet and greet potential adopters when the time comes.

WON’T I GET ATTACHED?

Foster carers always form a very special bond with their dogs, however there is no better feeling than seeing your foster buddy settle into their fur-ever home!

WHAT KIND OF DOG WILL I GET?

Greyhound Rescue has a policy of matching foster carers up with dogs who have been waiting longest in our Sydney kennels. We will also ensure your foster dog is compatible with your family and other pets.
