Bear goes Country!

Tricia and Lez have moved from Sydney to the country with their beautiful greyhound Bear.

They went to a fair in Nyngan and Bear walked away with the Blue Ribbon for Best of Class, Large Breed. He nearly got the overall champion prize but was pipped by a white Rabbit!!

Trivia Night Fundraiser-a great success

Last night, Saturday May 12th, we had a very entertaining evening of fun and laughter and at the same time raised nearly $3000 for Greyhound Rescue. A great effort by all involved.

Our hostess, Portia, was in great form, had everyone in fits of laughter and was also able to extract the last ounce of donation from those present. Well done Portia.

What a glorious autumn day it was in Centennial Park, with the sun shining and a blue sky and a lot of Greyhound Rescue adoptees, plus others, getting together to enjoy a wonderful day.

It was great to see people we had not met for a long time, spend time and a lazy day, well not too lazy!, catching up on stories about their greyhounds. And the greyhounds, a number of them remembered us and got quite excited at the reunion!

Thank you to everyone who came to make the day a successful and memorable one and particular thanks to Nora and Ed who organised the day for us and enabled us to raise a considerable amount of sponsorship. Donations are still being accepted.

Willow (Cat friendly)

Willow is a small, young brindle who has tested as ‘cat friendly’ and is a very quiet, smoochy, relaxed young lad.

One of our wonderful helpers took Willow for a long weekend away recently and she reports “He is delightful, quiet, pawfect in every way. He is afraid of the cats, is velcro and loves his pats and cuddles. He sits…not on command but he spends some cute time on the lead sitting and looking up at me as if to say… are we done yet?
He sleeps through the night and waits to be taken outside. It will certainly be a big wrench to take him back to the kennel this weekend! I give him an A+ for everything! I know he will find a fantastic and happy home! Beautiful Willow!!”

Madeline

Madeline and her Sister Rosie were dumped at the local pound because they did not satisfy their owners in the racing arena. At the tender age of just two years old, they were abandoned and disposed of; left to perish without a second thought. We were alerted to their plight and came to their rescue. The girls now have a second chance at a long and happy life with a family who will love them and give them the kind home.

The girls can be adopted together or separately. They get along well with each other, but they would also be fine living with another friendly dog or as a single dog with a family who will give them the love they deserve.

Madeline is a darker shade of brindle. She is fit and healthy and certainly a good looking girl. Inquisitive and playful, she delights in spending time with anyone who pays her attention. She walks well on a lead, strolling along and taking in all the new smells and sights as she goes. Currently in a boarding kennel, Madeline is keen to find a home to call her own where she can laze around the house and be a lounge lizard like most greyhounds love to do!

She will require minimal grooming and daily exercise to keep her fit and healthy.

Upon walking past all the small barking dogs on the way to the yard for photographs, both girls were perfectly well behaved and paid no attention whatsoever to all the noise and attention.

Both girls are simply delightful and the family who adopts either of these girls is sure to be very happy with them. The girls have been patiently waiting for a while now and are keen to find a home for the Winter where it’s warm and cosy and where they will be loved.
