Warringah Council’s ‘Big Dog Day Out 2010′ was a great success and many thanks to Mike, Fiona and girls who put in a lot of hard work to make sure of it. Holly also helped with preparation and on the day and thanks to her as well. It was good to see a number of adopted families and their greyhounds come along, some old stagers by now but also some newly added to the ranks.
The colouring competition was a great favourite with the children and the results of the competition will be published very shortly on the website.
!st prize in the Raffle was donated by Petbiz at Belrose. Many thanks to them for 15kg of Eukanuba, a box of treats and a collar and lead to match, valued at approx $150. This prize was won by Gordon Roberts of Turramurra. 2nd prize was won by Becky McManus of Seaforth.

Solo and Sarah have been with us for a few weeks now and as time goes by they are playing together more and more each day. In the photo they are sharing a lounge together and if you look on www.petrescue.com.au you will see a video, under Sarah’s name, of the pair of them playing like puppies!!
They really do have something special between them and it would be marvellous if they could find a home together.

These two greyhounds certainly have a great affinity for one another, indicating further that they not only get on well with humans but also each other.

This week we have received the good news that we have been endorsed as a deductible gift recipient.
In simple terms this means that any donations made to Greyhound Rescue are now tax deductible. So, if you or your friends want to make a donation and require a receipt, please make a point of asking for one.

Our new representative in Victoria, Kayleigh, is working wonders down there. Of the 7 greyhounds that we have sent down so far, Shawee has already been adopted into a new home with Ruth and Tony, Butch has gone on a two week trial with another family and the others are all settled into excellent foster homes.
Shawee
So congratulations to Ruth and Tony for adopting our first Victorian greyhound and particular thanks to Kayleigh for the hard work and effort she is putting in on behalf of Greyhound Rescue in Victoria. We and the greyhounds very much appreciate your dedication to the task of finding homes for these beautiful animals.

He came with the name of Joe because the ladies at the Pound needed a name to put on his papers, but he soon became known as
Curly because of his most unusual tail.
And to make the story even more unusual, on Monday of this week Curly went to new home and guess where? Curl Curl of course on Sydney’s Northern Beaches!!!
Good luck to Curly, who has been joined in his new home by girl friend, the beautiful Maggie the Smooch

At Greyhound Rescue we’re always looking for ways to promote our gorgeous dogs in the hope of finding them a Forever Home.
This month we’re asking you to help us InVest in a Greyhound, so that we can purchase some promotional vests for the Greyhound Rescue pack.
Vests cost $65 each and we’re hoping to raise enough for a minimum order of 10 vests, so that we can more easily promote our gorgeous Greys that are looking for a home:

Already rescued a greyhound? You may like to order a sleek vest for your own gorgeous greyhound as well. Vests cost $65 dollars (+ postage) and we only need a minimum of 10 orders to go ahead, so please show your interest by commenting below :)

Just a week ago Louis, Rex, Shawee and Thomas headed to Victoria from Sydney where Kayleigh is doing some great work for Greyhound Rescue to find foster homes and permanent homes for our greyhounds. Already, Kayleigh, who lives in the Packenham area, east of Melbourne, has found foster homes for the four and is busy organising more.
So, if anyone in Victoria can help her by adopting , fostering, fundraising, donating, etc. please contact her on 03 5940 8787 or 0424 569 148
