Willow is a small, young brindle who has tested as ‘cat friendly’ and is a very quiet, smoochy, relaxed young lad.
One of our wonderful helpers took Willow for a long weekend away recently and she reports “He is delightful, quiet, pawfect in every way. He is afraid of the cats, is velcro and loves his pats and cuddles. He sits…not on command but he spends some cute time on the lead sitting and looking up at me as if to say… are we done yet?
He sleeps through the night and waits to be taken outside. It will certainly be a big wrench to take him back to the kennel this weekend! I give him an A+ for everything! I know he will find a fantastic and happy home! Beautiful Willow!!”

Charlie is a small sweet boy who is small dog friendly, walks easily on the lead and exhibits the same gentle and soft nature as his mother.
He would make excellent family pet. Charlie is now in foster care in Northern Sydney and needs a photo update!

Harry had a bad start to life but is now ready for his new beginning with some special humans. Foster carers Ann and Marianne write:
‘When Harry arrived he was only 18kgs, and very scared of everything. Now he is 25kgs and a confident young man. Harry is 4 years old but thinks he is a puppy, who wants to always be by your side and thinks running in circles when excited is great fun. This is from being locked in a cage but has become part of his personality – maybe when he gets older he will change but only with lots of love and gently discipline and most of all, stability. He can be a bit confusing as he growls when happy and growls when grumpy, so his new owner will need to learn which is which.
He prances about, LOVES going for walks and insists that everyone comes to pat him! When you are sitting down he loves to rest his head and paws on you. He is a very energetic dog (unusual for most greyhounds). Loves his food, including dog choc drops, cheese and cat milk!
As he had a really bad start in life Harry needs a really special home with either a couple who are home a lot, as he needs lots of attention being a ‘puppy’, or a family with older children – younger children would not be suitable as when he jumps around he could probably push them over.
He has been fostered in a home with 2 other greyhounds and a dozen cats, so he is definitely ‘cat friendly’!’
Harry has come a long way and deserves his forever home.

Possum has become quite a celebrity on Facebook since she arrived with us in appalling condition.
However, after vet treatment and lots of love and TLC, she is looking in much better condition and is ready for a home. She is 9 years old but a real sweetie and darling and needs someone who can give her lots of love and affection.
She has continued to gain good health thanks to her wonderful foster carers. To quote the girls, “She is a lovely low maintenance grey, would be happy to have an evening walk around the block, comfy spot to keep an eye on what’s going on and love love love.
Possum seems to be getting stronger everyday. She is steadily gaining the weight that she lost when she was very ill in January. Possum had a few acupuncture sessions and this has helped her to become mobile and she is has started to be a real dog. She also has become very responsive to human interaction, always wanting a pat and she gets on beautifully well with 2 small white fluffy dogs and other hounds. She could potentially live with one cat. She is also now playing with toys a sign she is really back to health! Her ideal forever home is a quiet home with someone who stays home for the majority of the day, and somewhere where she will not have to travel too far.”

Jazzy is in foster care in the Liverpool area and his foster carer writes:
‘Jazzy is a beautiful 2 year old boy that walks well on the lead, gets on great with my 2 dogs he is in care with and is doing well with the cats inside (i have not tested him outside with the cats yet) he sleeps through the night on my bedroom floor and is not a fussy eater. When i’m at work he is outside with my greyhound with no problems so if you are not home alot he would love another doggy friend to keep him company. Jazzy has had some basic training, he is very responsive to commands and loves to please. Jazzy is an absolute pleasure to have around and is very deserving of his own forever home.’
He would be best suited with a dog savvy family, a couple or family with older children.

Jimmy is a 4 year old super stunning shiny boy. He is currently in foster care with two special needs maltese dogs and other hounds. He gets on well with all the dogs, is very gentle and has taken to home life exceptionally well. He particularly likes to play with our other foster dog “Lady”. Both Jimmy and Lady were dumped at Blacktown pound together, possibly came from the same from the same trainer. If you were after a pair then these two are proven good mates or Jimmy would equally be happy with another pet or as your own loyal best mate. Most greyhounds rarely bark but Jimmy will occasionally alert you but only if something is out of the ordinary.
Jimmy is laid back, loves his daily walk and loves nothing more than to be fussed over.
Update:
Lady and Jimmy are proven best friends and have been with us for a while in foster care. Both get on very well with other dogs, small fluffy dogs other greyhounds and a whippet. Lady and Jimmy love their toys and love their daily walks. They would be ok to be adopted separately but it would be ideal to home them together since they have been living together since entering greyhound rescue.
The perfect family for Jimmy and Lady is dog savvy couple, where one person is either stay-at home (or where someone will be home for most of the day- maybe one person being a part time worker). They will need to fully integrate the dogs into their family, not leaving them outside for long periods alone because Lady in particular loves human interaction. Jimmy also loves human fussing but is a little less needy (Lady is quite a rare female).
A family that can put the hard yards in to show them love, affection, exercise, firm but kind discipline and give them time to relax will be richly rewarded with two intelligent, affectionate friends for life.

Jake is a strikingly handsome greyhound who gets on well with everyone and everything that he meets. He is a gentle and laid back boy who is currently being fostered in Sydney with a whippet. He is cat friendly too. Jake would be ideally suited to a forever home with another dog and/or children and he needs and loves two 20 – 30 min walks a day.
Jake’s foster carer writes:
‘Jake is very sweet natured, a total softy. I brought my friend over with 1 of her cats he was fine with her, in fact the cat watched him more than he watched it. So hopefully that’s helpful for finding him a home. He’s great with small kids, and everyone generally. He loves cuddles and being where ever all the people are in the house and will cry if he’s outside while everyone is inside, a total sook! He loves his walks and going to the park so he’d need an owner who’s willing to walk him regularly.’

Bobby has gone on Trial with Patrick and Kath.
Have you ever seen a more aristocratic and elegant looking greyhound than Bobby?
A lovely lady gave Bobby a few days away from the kennels this week end and he loved every minute of it, especially on the beach, and this is what Trisha had to say:
‘He is a delightful and gentle soul.
He loves attention and had a farewell, on going back to the kennels, from some pre school aged kids this morning and the baby who is 17 months old. He had a tail wag and enjoyed them.
He lazed in the sun in the back yard today. Got closer to the cats and they all survived 5 days together!
He would be a good candidate for working people I think as he enjoyed the yard on his own. Great in the house where he spent most of his time and Bobby did not climb on the furniture.
He was coming to get hugs in the end. It was hard for me to take him back for sure but I hope we helped him to find a good home..No accidents in the house at all.
Walks very easy on the lead. I went through the door first when going in and out and he was happy with that as well. Not demanding either.! He is curious and likes to play with toys. Exciting!!
He is a catch and people should not be put off by his size! He did not seem to take as much space as the beautiful Willow who is smaller. He curled up nicely to sleep at the foot of our bed on cushions but tried to sleep on the floor or half and half.’
